Reach close to 1000gr weight. The largest known specimen size belongs to a specimen of Testudo hermanni boettgeri 1889 MOJSISOVICS 264mm and 3,420 kg (Highfield, 1988).

Coloration:

Color variable background, olive green yellowish (straw), orange to dark brown, about which has a pattern of spots, black on shields, quite symmetrically arranged relative to the vertebral line. In the vertebral scutes common a black M-shaped pattern with solid black top

Form:

Hard coated with horn-shields (Keratin). Backplate oval, slightly cleft nuchal level, and very little pointed later. In some populations expanded at hind limbshields:

Shields:

  • Nuchal shield present, long and narrow.
  • Vertebral scutes 5 are broader than long, and the fifth is expanded later.
  • Costal scutes: wider than long, very vertically inclined to approach the marginal.
  • Costal and vertebral scutes present areolas rrounded by growth rings, giving the rface a lumpy appearance backrest.
  • Marginal, not serrated outer edge shields, slightly wavy trailing edge
  • Shield pracaudal divided

Plastral coloration:

Olivaceo yellow straw background has black spots on each shield, longitudinally distributed rago the plastron, being very close to each other, touch each other, giving the appearance of two spots logintudinales, symmetrical about the midline

Plastral form:

  • Rigid horn-covered shields
  • The plastron is well-developed, almost completely covers the edge of the espaldar.
  • The anterior lobe is seen laterally slightly curved upwards
  • Gular shields, thickened, very slightly prominent
  • Posterior lobe with anal cleft
  • Shorter and narrower than the previous posterior lobe lobe

Coloration:

Straw yellow with bordered scales darker areas

Form:

  • The phalanges of the fingers are not distinguishable
  • Front legs with five to ten longitudinal rows of small flakes, which do not overlap, located on the front rface of each front leg, ending in a flattened shape, adapted to, excavate
  • Hind legs without scales, except at the edges of the heel, but not very elongated, are shaped like columns.
  • Nails: 5 front and 4 on the hind legs,
  • There are tubers between the thighs and tail, so the difference of T. graeca if you have them.
